These pages will, over time, contain archives of most of my published writings over the last thirty years or so. Most of these pieces, if not all, are reflections on a wide variety of increasingly difficult information policy choices presented to us by the digital revolution. In the early days, they seemed to be lurking dimly on the horizon.

Now, They are on the front burner. In fact, I think it is not an exaggeration to say that these next few years will see fundamental decisions made that will decide who will control and who will have access to the dominant information flows in our society--and on what economic, social, and political price.

I and my colleagues are wrestling intensely with these questions in the Office for Information Technology Policy (OITP) of the American Library Association (ALA). Some of that work is contained in these pages. On the other hand, these page reflect my personal views and not necessarily those of ALA or any other past, present, or future employer.
